Remembering Emmett Till

Simeon Wright, Emmett Till’s cousin, visited the Maywood Public Library District on Saturday, February 23rd, from 2:30-4:00 pm in room 201 of the Carnegie Building.  He spoke about what life was like under the Jim Crow system, the methods of repression, and what really occurred when Emmett Till was kidnapped and murdered.  Wright also looked at some of the myths about the tragic event and compared them with the realities of history.  There was a question and answer period after the presentation.  This was a free event.
